Julian Thew recently broke a record by winning GUKPT Main Event in Coventry at the G Casino to celebrate his birthday in style. It was a perfect way to finish off the week that had the excellent event of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour taking place at the time.
Richard Trigg has been the action man since the beginning in the Main Event. The way the game was played it showed the expertise of Richard Trigg. Julian Thew beat Steve Brown, Adriano Luzzi, Stuart Rutter, and even Richard Trigg by throwing him off his half million chip pot.
The event by itself turned out well since GUKPT Coventry Main Event had turned out with 145 participants, each of those who paid £1,000. The side events also saw a huge crowd with around 400 participants. Therein the winner was Carl Spicer who completed the Omaha Poker (Pot Limit) with “third place double” and David Johnson ended up collecting GUKPT Leaderboard Points at the £300.00 NL Hold´em 2 Day tournament.
Two main events remain and one is scheduled for the 6th of November in Blackpool and the second one at London on the 21st of November.
The payouts for the whole event have been listed here as follows: the winner by far was Julian Thew at £42,740, followed by Richard Trigg with £30,090, and Carl Spicer with £18,850 at the third place.
Other players who won at the event include Lee Taylor with £11,600, Stuart Rutter with £9,060, Nicholas Fellone with £6,890, Adriano Liuzzi with £5,440, Brian Sheppard with £3,990, Sam Grafton with £2,900, Steve Brown with £2,540, Jonathan McCann, Jonathan Kalmar, Adam Wilkinson with £2,180, Adrian Eley with the same £2,180 along with David Jones winning the same.
With all this action and tournaments going on for poker, it is like food for the cattle when it comes to poker players since most of them have been starved of any kind of events since Black Friday. While other sites and online poker networks have been shut down since Black Friday, there are some events and tournaments that help players who “need” this action around them most of the time.
The way Julian Thew got into the action and beat Richard Trigg with a big deal, and a lot of action took place between them during this event at this point in time.
