Jason Somerville became the first twitch poker streamer to rack up over 10 million views for his ‘Run It Up” channel on Twitch live stream. He accomplished this feat on Monday, 21st March, 2016 and in doing so clearly established himself as being the most famous twitch poker streamer in the world.
There are a number of poker players who have taken to Twitch and have done incredibly well over the last 12 months in building a faithful fan following but Somerville’s popularity has just skyrocketed and the 10 million views record only reaffirmed his status as the undisputed twitch poker stream king.

Somerville is a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet winner has over $3.8 million in live tournaments winnings. While these accomplishments has given him a good reputation in the world work it is his Twitch poker streaming channel that has helped to really establish his brand in the poker industry.
Twitch is the number one video game live streaming channel in the world and is known for its unique format. Though the site has some mega shows that have crossed more than ten million views, this is the first time that a poker related channel has received more than 10 million views.
Somerville was extremely happy of his new feat on Twitch. In a statement, Somerville said “Thank you. It is a milestone that represents a ton of work and time invested in the medium. We did 1,100 hours of streaming last year and I’m on track to do a similar number this year. It’s awesome because I enjoy every day and it’s great that people are enjoying hanging out with me.”
He recently opened up about his initial foray into poker live streaming during an interview with Card Player. His inspiration to get into Twitch and start a live streaming channel dated back to his interest in video games that were being streamed on twitch. He decided that it would be interesting to use the Twitch platform to live stream poker games and see if it pulls in an audience.
This was how he started his first channel and his now popular ‘Run it Up’ live streaming show. Somerville has now become a full time streamer and works over seven hours a day on his streams and spends a lot of his time answering questions by viewers on live stream including thousands of questions from amateur poker players. He believes this has been a key in helping him establish the “Run it Up” poker show and make him the most watched live stream poker channel on Twitch.
