Italy’s poker star Mustapha Kanit has been on a winning streak for the past few months. Kanit last week took the $215 PokerStars Sunday Million and won $177,229.79 after defeating 5,717 entrants.

This last win brings his online tournament winnings to more than $4 million mark. The Italian poker pro also recently won the $215 PokerStars Sunday Supersonic, which is a rapid-play format tournament and went on to take home $47,999.89 with that win.

Kanit has had a successful year so far. His achievements in 2016 include securing the fourth position in the $100,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller at the 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) where he won $596,360 and the first place in the €25,700 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller at the 2016 EPT Dublin where he won €501,640.

Kanit who hails from Alessandria, Italy started playing poker in 2008 when he was in college. He decided to quit his studies in 2009 and take up poker full-time. His first cash out at a live poker tournament came in 2009 at the La Notte Degli Assi in Milan, where he won €500 finishing 44th in the €300 NLHE. In the first two years, Kanit had cashed 24 times, won 4 times, reached 13 final tables and made over $700,000 in prize money.

The size of Kanit’s winnings reflects the amount of success he has had playing both live poker and online poker tournaments. With his live poker winnings at $6 million, Kanit’s combined winnings are around $10.25 million.

Some of his biggest online wins include winning $376,920 in the PokerStars $2,100 no-limit hold’em turbo event at Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP); winning $239,400 in Full Tilt’s FTOPS Main Event and winning $1,304,720 in the $10,300 Main Event at the 2015 SCOOP.

Kanit cashed twice in the 2014 World Series of Poker (WSOP), winning $117,079 and $128,862 but in its 2015 edition he cashed only once, coming third in the €25,600 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller, winning €227,145.

He had a good run at European Poker Tour (EPT) in 2015, registering a win at the EPT Grand Final with a first place in the €50,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller winning €936,500and at 2015 EPT Barcelona landing first place in the €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller for €738,759.

Kanit has also been chosen to be a part of the Global Poker League where he will represent the Rome Emperors.
