The Cash Game Festival will stop at the Village Green Card Club in Dublin, Ireland from Oct 11 – 15 and the Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn, Estonia, from Nov 15 – 19 to give poker players a chance to participate in a number of exciting events and finish the year on a high.
This major poker event will feature over 120 hours of cash games and side events. It will host two featured tables on its Twitch.tv channel daily, once at 9:00 p.m. and once at 6:00 p.m. In addition, PokerNews will be reporting all the events of the festival and will embed the Twitch.tv stream into its coverage.
Cash Game Festival Origins
Martin “Franke” von Zweigbergk, the professional poker player, and Enri Orav, the poker manager at Betsafe, founded the Cash Game Festival in 2014 with the purpose of creating something for cash game players. Most of the existing poker festivals catered exclusively to tournament players and there was absolutely nothing for cash game players.
The Cash Game Festival was an instant success, which inspired its founders to organize two more similar festivals at Tallinn, Estonia in 2015. The founders wanted to make the festival an international event. When it was held in Tallinn for the third time, it had already attracted the attention of international players. Players from Scandinavian countries were travelling all the way to Estonia to take part in it. The founders, therefore, decided to take the festival to the next level. Von Zweigbergk said that they experimented with several things, including the position of the televised table, but they wanted a wider audience and felt that they were ready for it.
Cash Game Festival Goes Global
The first International Cash Game Festival was held at Aspers Casino at Westfield Stratford City, East London and since then the Aspers Casino has hosted the event four times and has plans on hosting many more in future. The festival was once again a great success as it attracted players from different countries, including Australia, and featured 28 cash games.
Participants could choose from games such as Six Plus Hold’em, No Limit Hold’em, Open Face Chinese Poker, Dealer’s Choice Pot Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E, Super Dealer’s Choice, and Sviten Special. The buy-in was in the range of £1/1 to £25/50.
Von Sweigbergk continued to expand the Cash Game Festival and launched it in Uruguay. With the international expansion process, it did not take long for the founders to realize that they needed to recruit a great team to help put together professional and seamless international events across the world.
The Casino Game Festival’s 2016 season included a June stop at the Olympic Casino’s Casino Malta, an August stop at the Platinum Casino in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, another London stop in September at Aspers Casino. In November, the festival returned once again to Tallinn.
The Cash Game festival has continued to expand in 2017. It had only five stops during the previous year, but that has now increased to nine stops this year. The festival stopped for the first time in March at Perla Casino in Slovenia and in May at Sunborn Casino in Gibraltar. These two stops proved to be a great success.
The Cash Game Festival will head to Ireland for the first time and make a stop at Dublin’s Village Green Card Club. This will also be the first time that the festival will be hosted at a poker only property.
Cash Game Festival Success
Von Zweigbergk believes that one of the main reasons why the Cash Game Festival has become so popular and grown so rapidly is because the team has put together great events and provided excellent customer service that keeps players happy and causes them to return. Andro Loos, who is the project manager for the Cash Game Festival has played a major role in taking these events to the next level.
Aspers Casino poker manager John Casey has also been impressed with the Cash Game Festival and is happy that the festival is now stopping at Dublin. Casey asked poker players who have never been to a Cash Game Festival to visit and be a part of a great poker festival.
