The 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Bracelet Series has finally commenced with the domestic leg of the festival currently underway on WSOP.com. It features 33 bracelet events, open to players in Nevada and New Jersey. The festival kicked off on July 1 and will run through August 1. It will then be followed by the international portion which will take place on GGPoker.
The inaugural WSOP Online Bracelet Series in 2020 was a massive success, so much that it earned a Guinness World Record. While this year’s edition may not necessarily achieve the same level of success, especially with the reopening of the live poker scene and the lifting of pandemic-related restrictions, the festival is still expected to attract a huge turnout, with massive prizes and bracelet glory at stake.
So if you’re keen on winning an online bracelet this year, you better bring your A-game into each tournament you intend to play. You can do that by making yourself well-prepared and that’s where we can help you out. We’ve got some tips for you below in terms of creating your plan, setting up your schedule, adjusting your strategy, and dealing with pressure on the big stage.
Plan Your Journey
Begin your 2021 WSOP Online Bracelet Series journey right by having a plan. Go over the full schedule and choose the events you’re going to play. The first events have already played out, but there are still plenty left for you to choose from. Remember, you don’t have to compete in all of the tournaments on the schedule: quality over quantity.
After coming up with the list of events you’re going to compete in, you can then sort out your schedule. Check if any tournament dates conflict with other commitments and obligations. It’s important to be realistic when arranging your schedule so you can make the best out of your time at the series. Also remember to take a short break every now and then as the state of your health will directly impact your tournament performance.
Don’t Get Carried Away
It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the pressure of outclassing your opponents and ultimately taking home that highly-coveted bracelet. The WSOP is not your typical poker event. It’s one of the biggest and most prestigious poker festivals in the world. But keep in mind that keeping too much focus on the money and winning aspect of the tournament will only do you more harm than good.
Keep a level head, because after all, the rules are still the same. Instead of thinking so much about the money involved, try to enjoy the game and deliver the best performance that you can.
Know the Difference Between Live and Online Poker
The 2021 WSOP Online will attract not just the seasoned online players, but also those who are used to grinding the live tables in the hopes of winning a gold bracelet. If playing online is quite new to you, you need to make some adjustments to your strategy.
First and foremost, online poker plays at a faster pace than a live game. Expect the action to have less tanking, with players adopting a more aggressive strategy. Bet sizes also tend to be smaller at the virtual felts. If you want, you can practice your skills by competing in other online tournaments prior to taking part in the actual WSOP festival.
Just Have Fun
Oftentimes, some players get too deeply immersed in trying to win that they forget poker is really all about having fun. Don’t allow yourself to be this type of player. You can still stay focused on your goal while having a good time playing the game. Have some chit chat with your fellow players, take the opportunity to connect to more people, and just enjoy the tournament! There’s more to poker than just winning.
