Hung-sheng Lin from China was declared the winner of the 2011 Macau Millions after he defeated several top poker players in the tournament.
The 2011 Macau Millions is a unique poker tournament that has a great poker prize and an interesting format and structure. For this event, poker players were allowed to compete with each over seven poker events and got to win prizes during each poker event. For every poker event, players were required to play down to 7% of the field, and each of the qualifying players were guaranteed a HK$8000 pay day and a Day 2 seat.
Although only six players were able to cash in more than once during the 2011 Macau Millions, this format has become quite popular among players and most of them tried their luck on all seven days. The 2011 Macau Millions event brought together 1329 runners which surprised the gaming community. This event has topped the charts for the largest live poker event held in Asia.
The buy-in for the 2011 Macau Millions was HK$2200 and hence it was dominated by local players; however, many poker pros did join in and the list included 2010 WSOP C Champion Jonathan Duhamel, Raymond Vu, Celina Lin and Bryan Huang.
Day 2 started off with 93 players who had reached that level but it was reduced to just 34 players on Day 3. And on the final day, the winner, Hung-sheng Lin was leading and was in a good position with the amount of chips he had accumulated. Lin was declared the winner of the event and was awarded prize money worth HK$400000.
During the tourney Lin had to go up against Germany’s Huy Khiem Nguyen. Even though Nguyen had a couple of good moves, Lin had the chip advantage and that helped him claim victory. Lin has accumulated HK$400000 for his efforts over the past week and is now one of the best of the Asian players standing in line for the Asian Player of the Year title.
Players are now awaiting the next major live poker tournament which is the Macau Poker Cup that will be held from 28th May 2011 to 5th June 2011. Macau is a great place to play in some of the best casinos in the world. Players who like live tournaments have been know to frequently visit the place for the poker tournaments.
