Hollywood Poker Open (HPO) is now in its third year, which is just as exciting as its previous two years. The HPO is now on its way to the Mid-Atlantic. The host of the next HPO Regional Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on April 30 and end on May 10, is going to be West Virginia’s Hollywood Casino at Charlestown Races.
The regional event features Chris Moneymaker, winner of the WSOP 2003 Main Event, who will take part in all the regional tournaments till the Main Event weekend. The Main Event, which will have a buy-in of $1,115 will begin on May 9. The winner of the tournament will receive a free entry to the HPO Championship, a $500,000 guaranteed tournament, which will be played at M Resort in Las Vegas this June.
The Hollywood Casino, which is just a short drive from the Washington DC and Baltimore beltways, features a poker room with 26 tables. However, during the HPO regional tournament, more tables will be added for the benefit of all those participating in the tournament. Thousands of poker players from all over the region and its neighboring regions are expected to take part in the event, which will comprise more than 30 tournaments, spread over 11 days.
Aaron Shreve, the poker manager of Charlestown Races Hollywood Casino, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Hollywood Poker Open Regional Tournament once again. Our poker players get a chance to play some of the best players around including Chris Moneymaker, win some huge cash prizes, and maybe even a seat to the Main Event in Vegas.”
Players are especially attracted to the event as it gives them an opportunity to play with Chris Moneymaker. The legendary poker pro will not only participate in the HPO tournaments, but also at some of the qualifier satellites to give players a chance to play against him and win bounty prizes.
The winners will receive exceptionally beautiful trophies. The player who earns the highest number of points in 11 of the HPO’s featured events will receive the Regional Points Champion Trophy.
