GPI’s Fantasy Poker Manager Integrated into WPT Website

The Global Poker Index (GPI) and the World Poker Tour (WPT) recently announced that the WPT Player of the Year award of the thirteenth season will be given away after taking into consideration players’ performance not only in the events of the WPT Main Tour, but also in the WPT national tournaments, the WPT deepstack tournaments, and the WPT500 events.
According to the terms of the agreement recently signed between the WPT and the GPI, the latter’s Fantasy Poker Manager will be integrated into the WPT’s official website so that fantasy poker players can relate better with WPT events. The GPI’s Fantasy Poker Manager allows players to create a team of WPT players to compete with teams created by other players.

Even before signing a deal with the WPT, the GPI had an excellent reputation, but the recent partnership has made the GPI the perfect player ranking site in the industry.
Adam Pilska, the president of the WPT, said: “I applaud Alexandre Dreyfus and the Global Poker Index for taking positive steps to professionalize the sport. The GPI ranking system will allow more WPT players, regardless of the WPT offering they choose, to participate in the Season XIII Player of the Year race and provide better indicators for players throughout the season.”
Expressing his opinions about the partnership, Alexandre Dreyfus, the chief executive officer for the GPI, said that he is happy to promote the game of poker further through the GPI’s deal with the WPT. He also said that there is a relationship between the popularity of fantasy sports and the popularity of the actual sports and expressed his belief that this holds true for poker games too.
The GPI ranks poker players from different parts of the world according to their performances in live poker tournaments. The site updates its rankings every week. To rank poker players, the site considers their achievements during the past 36 months. The GPI takes into consideration only five results every six months for the latest year and four results every six months for the past two years, making it a maximum of 26 scores for the past 36 months.
Dan Smith, Ole Schemion, Scott Seiver, Daniel Negreanu, and Bryon Kaverman are the top five players on the GPI list. Other significant players in the GPI list are Erik Seidel (8th), Vanessa Selbst (16th), Jonathan Duhamel (15th), Phil Hellmuth (122nd), Phil Ivey (245th), and Sorel Mizzi (20th).
