The Golden Nugget recently signed a partnership deal with Amaya Gaming Group Incorporated in order to run real money poker businesses in both Nevada and New Jersey. The Golden Nugget, which is based in Las Vegas, already has a license to run real money Internet poker services and has partnered with Bally Technologies, which will provide the required games and software.
The Golden Nugget, a land casino resort is one of the oldest casinos in the city, as it was launched in 1946. Early this year, the Golden Nugget began offering online poker games for free. These free play online poker games were powered by Chili Gaming, which now belongs to Bally Technologies.
Besides The Golden Nugget, Boyd Interactive Gaming and Fertitta Interactive, which belongs to Station Casinos, have also received gaming licenses.
According to the terms of the recently signed partnership deal, Amaya will supply the gaming content and assist in the back-end operations of The Golden Nugget’s online poker and online casino services, which will be called goldennuggetpoker.com and goldennuggetcasino.com, respectively. The deal, however, has to be approved by the regulatory bodies before it can be brought into effect.
The Golden Nugget is the operator of four casino properties in Mississippi, Nevada, and New Jersey. It plans to establish a fourth casino property at Lake Charles in Louisiana.
Nevada already has a couple of functioning online poker rooms—Ultimate Poker and WSOP.com, and New Jersey is on the verge of launching online poker rooms. The Golden Nugget, which already had a Nevada license, has also been granted a license in New Jersey.
Thomas Winter, vice president (online gaming) for Landry’s Inc, which operates The Golden Nugget, said: “We intend to be a preferred early stage operator of real money online gaming as regulation progresses in the United States, initially in New Jersey and Nevada. To thrive in this market, we need to deliver a best-in-class online and mobile player experience.” According to Winter, Amaya is capable of delivering exactly what the company requires. He further said: “Through this partnership we can supply exceptional and secure online entertainment, supported by the strong brand of our land-based casinos.”
Amaya Gaming Group CEO David Baazov said: “This deal expands our existing partnership with Golden Nugget through the addition of our casino product to their poker offering, a result of both the quality of our offering and our strategic partnerships with both Bally and SHFL.”
