Just days after signing Australian poker pro Stewart to their grassroots team of sponsored pros, online poker room PartyPoker announced it added a new spokesman to their stable. Formula One race car driver Giancarlo “Fisi” Fisichella recently agreed to be the official ambassador for PartyPoker’s Italian-only poker website, PartyPoker.it.
The F1 driver has been a longtime poker fan and put his skills on display earlier this year during the “Racing” heat of the Sports Star Challenge IV. Though Fisichella failed to advance from his heat, he displayed more poker prowess than many of the other participants from the sports world, relying on aggression and playing position en route to a runner-up finish to online qualifier, PartyPoker Palladium Lounge member and experienced poker player Scott O’Reilly.
Despite his setback in that event, Fisi lost no passion for poker and even spoke about the hours he puts in at the felt during his hours at the track in an official press release from PartyPoker. “Poker has become a very popular pastime in the paddock in recent months with many of the drivers”, Fisichella explained. “I have joined two new teams recently and am delighted to be in pole position as a new ambassador for PartyPoker.it!”
In addition to sharpening his poker skills on the virtual felt at PartyPoker.it, Fisichella also has a poker DVD in the works. When he is not playing poker, Fisichella is busy racing on the F1 circuit. He has three grand prix victories to his name and recently signed a deal to race as a Ferrari driver. He has logged over 200 grand prix races in addition to a career as a go kart racer before switching to the F1 circuit.
PartyPoker.it is celebrating the signing of Fisichella with a series of daily freerolls exclusive to the Italian site. Prizes for the tournaments range from autographed F1 t-shirts to a piece of a €500 prize pool. Events are running now and will continue through the end of October. These freerolls will only be offered on PartyPoker.it and cannot be found on the PartyPoker.com poker site.

PartyPoker.it is the product of a partnership between PartyGaming and software group Intralot. As a result of new laws regulating online gambling in Italy, the site is a separate entity from PartyPoker, but has been faring extremely well since its launch earlier this summer. In July Italian gaming magazine Giochi e Giochi estimated the site already brought in €1,000,000 in its first four weeks of operation.

This site is registered on wpml.org as a development site.
