Full Tilt Poker, which is now owned by PokerStars, will host satellites to help poker players qualify for the Main Event of the European Poker Tour (EPT), an event sponsored by PokerStars and scheduled to be held in London. Such a thing would never have happened two years back when Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars were rivals.
Full Tilt Poker recently announced that it will run qualifier satellites to the Main Event of EPT London every Sunday, starting January 27. Each Sunday qualifier has a buy-in of $640 and will offer the winner an EPT London prize package worth $12k.
The prize package comprises the £5,250 buy-in to the Main Event of EPT London, which is scheduled to begin on March 10, which happens to be a Sunday, at Victoria Grosvenor Casino plus $3,500 for spending and accommodation.
Players who cannot afford the buy-in to the EPT London Main Event will be delighted with this chance to qualify for it. Those who cannot afford to spend $640 on the Sunday qualifiers need not despair because Full Tilt Poker will also run a series of low buy-in satellites, where players can win seats to the Sunday satellites. These low buy-in events include Sit n Go Tournaments, which have a buy-in of $22, and turbo re-buy tournaments, which have a buy-in of $22, and will be held at 12:20 p.m. GMT on Saturdays.
The Main Event of EPT London is expected to be a massive event as it coincides with the grand finale of the UKIPT, an event also sponsored by Poker, the European Poker Championships organized by Grosvenor Casino, and the London Poker Festival.
When the EPT was last held in London, the prize pool touched the $7.9 million mark, and Benny Spindler, the champion of the Main Event, won a huge prize of $1.19 million after defeating Steve O’Dwyer in the heads-up match.
The organizers have not yet published the complete schedule of EPT London, but the event is expected to comprise around 20 extra side events plus live satellite qualifiers to the Main Event. Some of these events will be held at Hotel Landmark, which is located in Marylebone Road.
Full Tilt Poker will run online qualifier satellites to the Main Event of EPT London on Sundays at 15:30 p.m. ET or 8:30 p.m. GMT. As previously mentioned, the qualifiers will begin on Jan 27 and end on Feb 24.
