There are thousands of professional poker players from all over the world who are trying to make a living playing the game they love. Many of these poker players quickly give up as they find it is extremely difficult to consistently win at the poker table and a lot easier to end up losing money.
Some poker players end up winning but their winnings do not amount to much based on a yearly average and as a result, their finances are not in the best of shape. However there are a few special poker players who have developed their skills and worked out a winning strategy that has helped them to make millions playing poker. Some of these such as Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey are legends of the game and have played poker for well over a decade.
Holz Gets The Attention Of Forbes
Forbes recently did a piece on Fedor Holz, a professional poker player from Germany who just turned 24. Holz is well known and respected by his peers in the poker community as what he as achieved in the past few years playing poker has been phenomenal. The Hendon Mob ranks Holz in first place on Germany’s all time money list and in 6th place on the All Time Money list with $23.3 million in career prize money.
Holz has had some amazing wins throughout his short poker career and the biggest of them all was at the 2016 World Series of Poker (WSOP) when he won the $ 111,111 No Limit Hold’em High Roller for One Drop and took home $4,981,775. Some of his other big wins include the 2016 No Limit Hold’em – Super High Roller 8 Handed event in Spain where he won $ 1,473,127 and his $300,000 No Limit Hold’em Super High Roller Bowl in 2016 that saw him win $ 3,500,000.
The German poker pro has also won a number of events in 2017 and the biggest so far is the PokerStars Championship Super High Roller event in Macau which saw him win $ 868,518. Holz has proven that a poker player with a good strategy can win consistently at the poker table and win big.
Networking And Mental Conditioning
Holz has always credited his success to the amount of time he invests in preparing mentally. The German poker pro is a big fan of mental coaches as well as developing a close inner circle. During the last 5 years, Holz has devoted a lot of time to learning more about poker, talking and creating strong relationships with high stakes poker players and surrounding himself with smart people like Koray Aldemir, Rainer Kempe and Steffen Sontheimer.
In a statement, Holz said “I spend a lot of time on forums and chatting with people and getting different inputs. The network mostly developed through forums. Skype is basically the base of poker players, where they chat and where it all started. Blogs were also a big thing in poker. You blog about your process, ask each other about strategy and get in touch with people who you think are smart.”
Holz also has a unique way of thinking and a strategy that is very different from the usual poker pro. One would assume that since Holz had great success at the 2016 WSOP, he would have been looking forward to taking part in the 2017 WSOP. However he made it clear that he was going to avoid the WSOP and focus on other tournaments like the Triton Super High Roller Series 2017 in Montenegro.
Holz told Forbes that he was happy with the money that he has won playing poker as it gave him the freedom to do what he wanted with his life. He is now spending more time on his business ventures and has recently launched a new app known as Primed Mind that focuses on helping poker players as well as athletes and students on developing a mindset for success. The app was launched earlier this year and since then has seen more than 20,000 downloads.
Should Holz continue his phenomenal run at the poker table, he will quickly take the number one spot in the all time money list.
