Deltin Poker Tournament To Boost Indian Poker Market In 2019

The poker industry in India has continued to grow, attracting some of the world’s biggest brands, despite on-going opposition from state governments and religious fronts. The last 18 months has seen a number of international poker operators enter the market and it has forced domestic operators to boost their marketing and tournament offerings in order to stay competitive.
In the past, Indian poker players had very few domestic poker tournaments to play in a calendar year and were forced to travel overseas to participate in interesting poker events. All that has changed as the growing appetite for major live tournaments has caused multiple poker operators to launch new tournaments to cater to this demand.
One of the tournaments looking to satisfy the Indian players’ live poker craving is the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT). Delta Corp Ltd has just announced that the first DPT event for this year will take place in February and will be held at the Adda Live Poker Room at the Casino Deltin Royale.
Deltin Poker Tournament – February Schedule
In partnership with India’s premier poker site Adda52.com, the first DPT slated for 2019 will run from February 7 – 11. It will feature five events with buy-ins ranging from INR15,000 all the way up to INR65,000.
The tournament kicks off with a 15K Deep Dive NLH taking place on February 7 with the final day happening on February 8. High-stakes players can also take part in the Adda52 Highroller event, which carries a buy-in of INR 65,000. Two other events included in the schedule are the 3-Seat GTD Main Event Satty on February 7 and a 15K NLH Bounty event on February 10 at 5:00pm.
The 35K Main Event will run from February 8 – 11, with three starting flights. The events will entirely follow freezeout formats unless otherwise stated.
Last year, three DPT tournaments were held – DPT February, DPT Colossus Super High Roller series which took place in April and the final DPT edition in July. Dainim Mehta won the first DPT event of 2018 taking home 23.19 Lakhs. The winners of the April and July tournaments were Sriharsha Doddapaneni who earned 28.70 Lakhs, and Awnish Singh who won 35.04 Lakhs.
Key Changes To 2019 Schedule
This year’s DPT tournaments will see a few changes, following feedback gathered from players. The most notable changes include the starting time for the 15K Deep Dive event which now moves 5pm to 6 pm and the extended late registration for the Highroller event.
Flight 1C of the Main Event will now be a turbo event playing in 25-minute levels and 1 re-entry is now being allowed for the NLH Bounty event. Deltin Corp will also livestream the 15K Deep Dive NLH full event, as well as the final days of the Main Event and the Adda52 Highroller.
Satellite Events
Satellite events are currently running, which include a DPT Me satellite, DPT ME Step Satellite, DPT Super Satellite, and a DPT Super Satellite. Buy-ins range from INR175 to INR7500. Super Satellite winners will earn free seats to four DPT events as well as a travel reimbursement worth INR 20K.
A special package called “Stay and Play” is also on offer. Players who pre-book the promo will be entitled to free travel and stay at Deltin properties.
Manish Adnani of Delta Corp Ltd said the changes introduced this year are aimed at optimizing the format of the already robust DPT structure. Adnani is excited for the new season and is looking forward to a fantastic year across the local tournament scene in India.
DPT Xpress Scheduled for March
Meanwhile, DPT Xpress (DPTX) is set to be a three-day tournament that will take place from March 14 to March 17 at Delton Denzong in Hotel Denzong Regency in Sikkim. The venue was launched in January of 2017.
Four events are in the DPTX schedule. These include a 5K Burn ‘n’ Turn on March 14, a 10K Bounty event taking place on March 16, a 5K Tag team event on March 17, and a 15K Main Event happening on March 15 and 16.
Commenting on the DPTX schedule, Adnani said the tournament has been organized with players who are new to the poker scene as well as cash game aficionados. More updates will be announced soon, but one thing’s for sure – players can expect a fun-filled series with Live Streaming and Live Reporting also incorporated.
