A new online poker site is set to launch later this month, aiming to provide a unique experience that incorporates the true feel of live poker.
“Dealio Webcam Poker”, operated by software company Dialectic Applications, Inc, will enable players to enjoy new features that are not available in most online platforms these days, such as verbal declaration of a bet or action, real-time social interaction, as well as gathering physical tells from opponents.
Dealio makes all of these possible by having live dealers on board to monitor and control the flow of the game, and using an interactive webcam software.
How Dealio Works
Dealio prides itself on being the first internet poker site that uses live dealers as well as integrated player webcam streams for its games. The live dealers take charge of the flow of the game, enforce rules, and make sure players enjoy a “fun and fair” experience while playing at the tables.
Players taking part in games are required to be viewable to their opponents via their web cams. This means participants will be able to interact with each other in real time while the game is underway; they can make verbal declaration when the action is on them, and can also engage in table talk with their opponents – all of these resemble what actually happens in a live poker room.
Dealio will also be supporting cryptocurrencies for deposit and withdrawal transactions, enabling customers to have full control of their hard-earned money. At the moment, the site has yet to identify which cryptos it will accept, but it is expected to release more details on this soon.
Dealio’s unique features will also block poker bots and the use of third-party tools, such as real-time assistance software. Players will no longer need to worry whether they’re playing with AI or robots as they can actually see who they’re up against. In this day and age when even the biggest online poker sites are plagued with bots, players need a platform where they’ll feel secured and protected, and this is what Dealio will try to achieve.
The Dealio Team
Both Dealio and Dialectic Applications are the brainchild of Donald Puckett, a Dallas-based intellectual property attorney who is also a recreational poker player. The idea about webcam poker and bringing in live dealers called “Dealios” into the virtual tables was born during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Puckett was forced to switch to playing online as the live poker scene was essentially closed as a result of government-mandated lockdowns.
While playing at online sites, Puckett felt that something was lacking, and that they simply could not emulate the live poker experience. It motivated him to establish an online platform that bridges the gap between the live and online environments.
Prominent poker pro Barry Greenstein, a three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Famer is currently involved with the new project. He works with the site as a senior software and poker advisor. Also helping him with software development is Clonie Gowen, one of the original members of Team Full Tilt.
Greenstein said their aim is to emulate the psychological aspect of live poker by incorporating live dealers into the game.
The Dealio team is also comprised of tournament directors Ken Lambert, Jr and Justin Hammer, as well as player-ambassadors Shannon Elizabeth, Nathan Gamble and Jacob Zalewski.
Will Dealio Succeed?
Whether this latest webcam poker project will eventually prosper remains to be seen. Dealio isn’t the first site to introduce the webcam poker product. In 2006, JacksNQueens.com and Pharaoh’s Poker Palace both tried to market a similar product, but they quickly faded into oblivion. FacePokerLive did the same thing four years later, but the project also failed.
Even 888poker has an existing PokerCam tables feature, but it hasn’t really been taken seriously by users. So far, webcam-poker has failed to capture mainstream attention, but Dealio is determined to change that.
The site will initially offer play money games during its launch, but will eventually expand to regulated markets in the US and across the world.
