The APPT 2013 Melbourne schedule was made public a month back, and several poker players were delighted to note that the Crown Casino in Melbourne will play host to this two-week poker festival.
The Melbourne leg of APPT 2013 will begin on August 25, which happens to be a Sunday and will conclude on September 9, a Monday. The first event is going to be a $50 No Limit Hold’em Accumulator event, a format that had become very popular at the WSOP APAC. Since this event has a very low buy-in, it is expected to attract huge crowds of poker players.
Besides the accumulator event, APPT 2013 Melbourne also has many other tournaments in its schedule, such as the $350 buy-in 7 Game Tournament, a $350 buy-in Mix Max Tournament, a $550 PL Omaha Tournament, and a $1650 buy-in Six Handed Tournament.
The most exciting APPT 2013 Melbourne event will be its Main Event, which will begin on September 5 and end on September 9. This time, the APPT has reduced the Main Event buy-in to $3000 after holding it as a $5000 buy-in event for the past two years. Needless to say, the buy-in has been reduced to make sure that it attracts a large player field.
The champion of last year’s APPT Melbourne Main Event was Sam Razavi, a UK-based professional poker player, who beat 257 opponents to win the first place prize. In 2011, Leo Boxwell, a member of the Australian Poker Hall of Fame, won the championship title.
Players can also take part in a $550 buy-in Bounty Tournament, a $350 buy-in Shot Clock Terminator Tournament, a $550 buy-in Deepstack Tournament, a $250 buy-in “The Rail” Tournament, and a $300 Tag Team Event. The Shock Clock Terminator is a brand new format, and the poker community is very much interested in it.
Interested players can qualify for the APPT 2013 Melbourne Main Event through a wide range of qualifier satellites. There is plenty of time for players to win prize packages at online poker rooms.
APPT 2013 Melbourne will be the first major poker tournament to be held at Crown Casino’s poker room after Joel Williams took over as the tournament director.
