Boris Becker Signs Up As New partypoker Ambassador

Partypoker recently announced that yet another high profile name has joined their ranks of partypoker’s ambassadors. Former tennis superstar Boris Becker was signed up by the online poker site according to a recent announcement.
Becker is considered to be one of the greats in the game of tennis and is also well known in poker circles and has so far netted live tournament winnings of $111,417. He finished at 40th place in the $25,500 WPT Five Star World Poker Classic in 2009 taking $40,855. He recently he finished 13th at the £15,000 in the inaugural Devilfish Cup held this year. Earlier a part of the PokerStars family, Becker expressed delight at the new partnership.

Partypoker has been signing up a series of celebrated poker personalities as brand ambassadors this past year. So far in this year alone the site has added to its roster – Sam Trickett, Jackie Glazier, Patrick Leonard, Roberto Romanello, Beata Jambrik, Natalia Breviglieri and Joao Simao. Legendary pro Mike Sexton and four-time world champion boxer Carl Froch and Tony Dunst are other prominent ambassadors.
In a statement, Boris Becker said, “I am equally competitive at the poker table as I was on the tennis court, so I’m really excited to be partnering with partypoker and taking on players around the world. I learned to play poker a long time ago; it’s a game of skill and perseverance, so I’m hoping to use my experience on the tennis court to my advantage. partypoker is launching a special promotion to celebrate Becker’s signing. The promotion is a tennis-themed one named Beat the Ace that will have four freerolls for $5,000, the overall winner of which will go up against Becker in a heads up play in Germany for a prize of around $25,000.
partypoker’s Group Head, Tom Waters welcomed Becker to the partypoker family stating that it was great to have one of the world’s most notable sportsperson join. He said that Becker’s legendary mental strength and winning instinct will make him a tough competitor in poker as well. Waters added that partypoker was looking to expand in Germany and Becker would play avaluable role as its ambassador in the market.
Another German to be signed up by partypoker is poker pro Jan-Peter Jachtmann. He has to his credit live winnings of over $1.64 million with his career best win having been $661,000 in 2012 for winning the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship event at the World Series of Poker.
