Betsson, a known online gambling brand name in the poker community, recently announced that it had joined hands with Microgaming. As per the agreement, Betsson will move to the Microgaming poker network.
Microgaming’s Head of Network Games, Lydia Melton said, “We are thrilled to have Betsson.com join the Microgaming Poker Network. The MPN has undergone a transformation this year, and we are delighted that our efforts have resulted in the signing of such major operators. We look forward to working closely with Betsson.com on the MPN and in the Network Management Board over the coming years.”
Betsson had decided to leave the Entraction / IGT poker network once news about its closure reached the industry. IGT announced its decision to close and began to focus on other aspects of its growth. According to a spokesperson from IGT “Change and uncertainty in European market conditions have diminished the expected returns in certain real money wagering products. As a result, we are consolidating our product development. We are maintaining our options for future changes in market opportunities – This decision is purely focused on our European dotcom business and does not impact future decisions regarding entry into new markets as regulation, taxation and commercial opportunities arise.”
Fortunately, it has moved on to a strong and stable poker network and is highly likely to benefit from it. According to product director Henric Andersson from the Betsson Group, “The MPN is one of the world’s most established online poker networks; naturally we are delighted to be joining the MPN. At Betsson.com, we strive to create the finest gaming experience for our players and we are confident that by adding the MPN to our offering, we will deliver an exceptional experience to all of our poker players.”
Microgaming has greatly benefited from the shutdown of the Entraction Network and has lapped up all the poker operators that have left it such as Malta, BetVictor and so on. Magnus Silfverberg, the chief executive of the Betsson company, commented on the transition of Betsson to Microgaming.“The migration problems earlier communicated are well identified and a number of improvement initiatives are executed. These experiences together with high activity on Betsson’s different gaming sites as well as leading technology in the mobile segment, will give a continued strong development for Betsson,” he said.
We can expect Betsson to have improved player traffic and see better results in terms of revenue soon.
