India’s top online poker site Adda52.com has announced the launch of a Player of the Year (POY) contest for the current year. Reprising the 2016 edition, the site will award poker players points for playing games from January through to December 2017. This year apart from the overall prize pool the contest will offer an instant bonus of Rs 20 lakh that will be shared between the top 15 players.
Additionally, a Double Down tournament will be held where all players who are in the Royale and Diamond Loyalty Level in the site’s loyalty scheme will have a chance to double their prize money on the POY leaderboard.

The 2016 POY was the first opportunity for Indian poker players to battle for the title of India’s best poker player. The inaugural edition saw more than 18,000 players taking part but at the end it was Tarun Goyal, a member of the Adda52 Pro Live who managed to finally make it to the top of the leaderboard and win the prestigious title. The first runner-up was Deepak Bothra while Siddarth Singhvi was the second runner-up. The top 15 players received a share of the Rs. 39 lakh prize money.
This year, in order to build up excitement, Adda52.com has introduced a POY Booster Series that will run from January 19 to 29. Players have the chance to participate in 76 events held across 11 days for a share of the stunning guaranteed grand prize pool of Rs. 1 crore.
Games offered will be in different poker variants such as Holdem, PLO and Bounty which will allow players to gain four times POY points, enabling them to quickly rise through the POY leaderdoard.
Apart from the grand prize pool, the tournament will offer two more prizes. A 11 Lac Bad Beat Jackpot that will see a daily event being held offering Rs. 1 lakh in prize money for those getting a bad bead, and a 1.25 Lakhs Super Performer Reward that will enable all those finishing in the money receiving a share from the additional Rs. 1.25 lakhs prize pool.
