XL Blizzard 2019 – Key Highlights
Hoping to encourage more players to join this year’s Main Event, 888poker has decided to come up with a more manageable buy-in of $250, down from last year’s $1,050. The Main Event takes place on April 14 and comes with a massive guarantee of $500,000. Players begin with 50,000 chips, with blind levels increasing every 20 minutes. Up to three reentries are allowed, and players can late-register within a five-hour limit.
The Main Event will be followed by a Mini Main Event which happens on the same day. Players will battle it out for at least $50,000 in guarantees for just a $33 entry fee.
Another highlight on the schedule is the $100,000 GTD Opening Event taking place on April 4. Player will only need to deposit $109 to enter to enjoy plenty of play starting with 50,000 chips. Blind levels will increase every 15 minutes. Participants can reenter three times, within a four-hour late registration period.
The highest buy-in event on this year’s series is the XL Blizzard #16 – $320 buy-in High Roller, taking place on April 9. Players will compete for a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000. The event follows a slightly faster pace than that of the Opening Event, with 50,000 in starting chips played in 12-minute levels. Players are allowed up to three reentries. Late registration closes after 200 minutes.
Full Schedule
Aside from the $100,000 Opening Event on April 4, there will also be a $20,000 Mini Opening Event and a $20,000 Late Opening Event, with a buy-in of $16.50 and $55 respectively. On April 5, two progressive knockout events will take place: XL Blizzard #4 – $30,000 PKO with a buy-in of $55, as well as XL Blizzard #5 – $20,000 Mini PKO with a buy-in of $22.
XL Blizzard’s Crazy 8 events will take place on April 6. Players can choose from three events: XL Blizzard #6 – $88 buy-in Crazy 8 ($30,000 guaranteed), XL Blizzard #7 – $8.80 buy-in Mini Crazy 8 ($10,000 guaranteed), and XL Blizzard #8 – $44 buy-in Late Crazy 8 ($10,000 guaranteed).
Five events are scheduled on April 7: $120,000GTD Mega Deep, $100,000GTD Tune Up, $50,000 GTD Mini Tune Up, $10,000 Micro Tune Up, and $20,000 Late Tune Up.
The lowest buy-in event ($5) on the schedule, $10,000GTD Mini R&A, happens on April 8. There will be plenty of PKOs, DeepStack, 6-Max and 8-Max events spread across the rest of the schedule. Buy-ins begin from $16.50, with guaranteed prize pools reaching $75,000.
Satellites and Freerolls
888poker is offering plenty of ways for players to get into action at the 2019 edition of the XL Blizzard series. First, they can take part in the many satellite events running throughout the series which will give them the chance to earn free seats to a number of XL Blizzard events.
Second, those who have already signed up for 888poker and already have a deposit are entitled to two free tickets to Main Event freeroll satellites running daily. Players can even win more tickets if they are able to complete simple missions on the website.
