888poker has continued its strategy in 2016 of working with domestic providers in local markets to build its brand reputation and increase its market presence. The second biggest online poker website in the world recently announced that it has entered into a two year agreement with Svenska Pokerförbunde and will now be the official host of the online edition of Poker-SM (PSMO), which is also known as the Swedish Poker Championships.
The Svenska Pokerförbunde or the Swedish Poker Federation (SPF) was established in 2004 as a not for profit organization and has committed to utilizing all the revenue it generates from corporate sponsorships and membership fees to further the popularity of poker in Sweden. The organization is responsible for hosting an annual live poker and online poker tournament that is open only to poker players in Sweden.
The SPF had partnered with the Rational Group (the parent company of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker) for the past few years to host the online edition and satellite events for the PSMO.
