888poker is looking to recapture market share and continue to be one of the top three online poker rooms in the world. 888poker was the second biggest poker operator in the world before losing its position to partypoker.
Since then, 888poker has focused on bouncing back by rolling out a number of changes. One of those changes involved rolling out its new Poker 8 software in 2019. Since then, the online poker operator has made changes to its software to iron out issues and enhance its end-user experience. 888poker recently released a new version of its Poker 8 software introducing more changes.
The Poker 8 software platform is not available to poker players in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. However, the online poker platform is available to poker players in Michigan and Pennslyvania. Most of the features that are part of the new rollout impact both the mobile and desktop versions but some features are specific to the mobile/online platform.
Four New Features To Watch Out For
Show Satellite feature is the latest feature that has been introduced to the desktop client. This feature is going to be very helpful for poker players who are looking for satellite events to the big events on 888poker. All you have to do in the lobby is to tick the box if you want all satellite events to be displayed or just leave it empty if you don’t want to see any satellite events.
Floating Winner Spinner is the new feature added to the mobile client. Players who like taking advantage of free spins will be able to see all of the new spins on offer through this new feature which floats onto the screen.
Sticky Tournaments: Players no longer have to browse and search for the biggest and best tournament action taking place at 888poker. This is because the new feature pins all of the popular and biggest games at the top of the main tournament lobby. This new feature is available for both mobile and desktop platforms.
A customized emoji panel is just to make the entire online poker experience more exciting. Players will be able to use this customized emoji panel to send fun emojis on both the desktop and mobile platform. A lot of top online poker operators have added customized emojis to their online poker platforms, so it isn’t a big surprise to see 888poker add one of their own.
Focus To Enhance Player Experience
While PokerStars and GGPoker focus on running big online poker festivals with millions of dollars in prize money, 888poker is focusing on enhancing its overall player experience. This new updates to Poker 8 are by no means a major upgrade but the small tweaks are expected to make a difference in the end user experience.
Whether this strategy of focusing on enhancing player experience will help 888poker with its overall market results remains to be seen. 888poker has fallen behind as they are no longer making a buzz in the online poker market – certainly not as big as PokerStars and GGPoker.
We will have to wait for a couple of weeks to see what the market response is to these latest Poker 8 software updates.
Big Shot Edition – $1 Million
888poker launched its special Big Shot Edition which is a multi-flight edition that comes with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. The buy-into this event is fixed at $109 and there are also a number of satellite events and freerolls to give you a chance at qualifying for the Big Shot Edition.
