The 888poker LIVE Festival is returning for a second edition at London’s longest-running poker room, The Grosvenor Victoria, widely known as “The Vic”. The series will be a 12-day affair, kicking off on January 6. It will feature multiple tournaments and side events, with satellites also running throughout.
888poker first hosted a live event at The Vic in London back in October. The 888poker LIVE Weekend became the first live event to take place in Western Europe since the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020.
The four-day £444 buy-in tournament proved successful, recording a total of 690 entries to generate £276,000 in total prize pool, surpassing its initial £50K guarantee by a huge margin. Keith Hoang ended up taking home the largest slice of the prize pool, winning £71,740 in top prize alongside an 888poker LIVE trophy.
Now, 888poker continues its partnership with The Vic for an even bigger event which is expected to once again attract huge fields. This time around, players will have several tournaments and various formats to choose from across 12 days of non-stop poker action.

Satellites & Online Qualifiers Running on 888poker

888poker is giving players the chance to take part in the festival’s key events for a more affordable price via online qualifiers and satellites running at the site.
Players may enter satellites for as low as 1₵ and climb their way to the top where they can win tickets to the festival, or they can take the shorter route and directly participate in online qualifiers with buy-ins of £55 and £109 to secure seats into the Opening Event and Main Event. Registration for the online qualifiers is ongoing on 888poker.
The satellites and online qualifiers are exclusive to UK players only and the full schedule is available on the 888poker website.

Will the 888Live Festival London Be Cancelled?

The past few weeks saw some live events being canceled across Europe as several countries impose a fresh wave of restrictions due to rising cases of COVID-19.
The first live festival to be dropped this year was the European Poker Tour Prague which was originally scheduled to run from December 8-19 at King’s Casino Prague. Czech Republic declared a month-long national state of emergency to deal with the increasing level of infections in the country and enforced new restrictions which have made it impossible to hold major live events in the country.
PokerStars has just announced new dates for EPT Prague which will now take place from March 5-16, 2022.
The Belgian Poker Challenge has also been postponed with a new 2022 schedule to be announced soon.
While some countries in Europe have tightened their COVID-19 measures in light of the recent surge in cases, the UK government has decided to stick to its plans of allowing public venues to operate at full capacity. The country also does not intend to enforce new restrictions despite the threat of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron. This means that the 888poker LIVE Festival will likely run without pandemic-related barriers next year.
