888poker has introduced a major overhaul of its Android mobile app. The newly-transformed app now comes with a redesigned lobby highlighting a new portrait layout, with players now allowed to play up to four tables simultaneously. The new features form part of the largest-ever mobile update rolled out by the site in a bid to take online poker experience to a whole new level.
New & Enhanced Features
The latest changes to 888poker’s mobile app are available only to Android users for the time being, and it remains unknown whether the same changes will also be applied to the iOS app. The major update brings the online poker operator’s mobile product in line with the modern age, with new additional features to enhance user experience.
Among the most notable transformations is the new-look lobby that is now available in portrait view, with the side-swipe navigation option now fully replaced with a grid-based interface where games are easily visible and can be scrolled vertically, enabling players to quickly pick their game of choice. The latest update has also made it easier for players to choose their desired stake ranges, with pre-defined values now available, meaning players can simply select their stake range and go straight into action instead of having to set it themselves using sliders.
888poker has also streamlined tournament searches by adding filters so that players can look for their preferred tournaments more efficiently. Interaction between players is now emoji-based instead of text chat. Players can throw virtual objects at their opponents to elevate the fun during games.
Perhaps the best part of the major overhaul is enabling multi-table support, a feature that’s been absent from the mobile app for years. Players are now permitted to play up to four tables simultaneously, and they can switch between these tables through the top buttons. A preview of the hole cards dealt is available for each table, and players will know if it’s their time to act by checking on the alert icon.
The new mobile app currently supports just Hold’em games, which means PLO players will need to download the desktop version. The new app can be downloaded via Google Play store, or directly on the 888poker website for markets that cannot access the app on Google Play. Players in some markets, like the UK for example, will still be prompted to download the older version on Google Play, but it’s understood everything will be sorted out soon so players across all 888poker markets can enjoy the new features.
888poker’s mobile client was launched in 2012. It initially mimicked the simple version of the desktop client, with similar designs, layouts and tables, with no advanced features. The previous app did not support multi-tabling and SNG, with limited choices when it comes to games and stakes. The tables were designed for the beginners, with a large bet slider and big action buttons allowing players to make their choices.
The app was all basic, though it was generally functional. The mobile client soon came up with more offerings, such as cash games, texas hold’em, tournaments, casino games, and Snap. It also has a dedicated cashier that enables players to make secure deposit and withdrawal transactions.
Millions Superstorm
The recent update marks the app’s biggest upgrade so far as the site keeps up with the changing times. It coincides with the announcement of a new online poker festival at 888poker, the Millions Superstorm. The tournament series, which is set to kick off on September 10, features 480 events. The series culminates in the $320 buy-in Main Event with $1,000,000 in guarantees up for grabs. It is the biggest tournament series to be hosted by 888poker.
The festival will include events suitable for players of all levels, with buy-ins starting from as low as $5.50, all the way up to $530. Overall, the massive festival will give away a whopping $8 million in total prize money.
