The 53rd World Series of Poker (WSOP) full schedule is now available, and players can look forward to a huge and historic summer as the festival returns to its roots.
The 2022 WSOP kicks off on May 31 and runs through July 20, 2022 at its new home, Bally’s and Paris on the Las Vegas Strip.
The new venue offers the largest tournament capacity in the history of the series, with the tournaments set to be held at a 200,000 square feet convention space that can accommodate 600 poker tables.
Bally’s is also undergoing major renovations as it rebrands to Horseshoe ahead of the summer festival. This year’s series will be momentous and officials are expecting it to be the biggest yet.

53rd WSOP – Key Details

There will be a total of 109 gold bracelets on offer at the upcoming summer series – 88 of that will be given away at the live festival in Vegas, with the remaining 21 bracelets up for grabs during an online series open to players in New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
Among the main highlights of the 2022 WSOP is the highly-anticipated Mystery Bounty tournament which makes a debut this summer with a $1 million top bounty prize.
As usual, the $10,000 buy-in Main Event will attract massive attention with some of the world’s best poker pros expected to take a shot at the prestigious tournament alongside thousands of players from different parts of the globe. The tournament gets underway on July 3 and a new Main Event champ will be crowned on July 16.
A “Housewarming” event is icing on the cake, promising $5 million in prizes. The tournament costs $500 to enter and runs during the opening weekend, allowing players to build their bankroll early in the series.
Making this year’s festival more exciting is the return of the invitation-only Tournament of Champions which will be participated in by the bracelet winners alongside the gold ring winners from the 2022 WSOP Circuit season. The event takes place from July 18-20.

Other Highlights

The summer series will see the return of popular WSOP signature events, including the Millionaire Maker, The Closer, Colossus, and Monster Stack. The prestigious $50K Poker Players Champions will also be back.
A Ladies’ event is also part of the schedule, alongside two Seniors’ events and a Tag Team tournament. GGPoker’s Flip & Go game also returns for a second edition.

Vaccine Requirement Removed

The exciting lineup of events will surely attract huge turnouts which will be boosted by the removal of the vaccine requirement. Last year, the fall series required would-be participants to present proof of vaccination before they can enter any event. That didn’t sit well with a lot of players, many of whom opted to skip the series because of the vaccine mandate.
Unvaccinated players are now allowed to compete, with the mask requirement also scrapped, but this is still subject to change as officials continue to abide by the local, state, and CDC guidelines.
With pandemic-related restrictions now lifted in most parts of the globe, multiple live events have begun removing the vaccine passport requirement, such as the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague series which is due to take place in March at King’s Casino in Czech Republic.

WSOP-GGPoker Partnership Continues

Along with releasing the full schedule for the 53rd WSOP, officials also announced the extension of its alliance with GGPoker, allowing the online poker site to once again host exclusive satellite WSOP packages for non-US players. After the WSOP live festival this summer, the action heads over to the European region, with the WSOP Europe scheduled to run from October 12 – November 3 at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.
