The current poker crop may not be too familiar with Greg Raymer. He won the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event and hasn’t really set the poker world on fire in the last few years. Raymer had plans to share his key poker strategies in a book but that never came unto fruition until now.
His much anticipated book is about to be released by leading poker book publisher D&B Poker. The book will come out in time for next year’s WSOP and will be called “Fossilman’s Winning Tournament Strategies” Raymer’s book can be pre-ordered via the D&B website.
Fossilman’s Winning Tournament Strategies
The 2004 WSOP Champion said that this was the first book in a series that will concentrate on tournament strategy. Readers can expect an in-depth coverage of the basics of tournament strategy and also look forward to advanced and “unknown” tips and advice from Raymer. He alleges that some of the strategies he shared has still not been adopted by today’s poker professionals and high-level tournament players.
Both newbies and professionals can learn a lot from the book as it has been written keen a wide audience in mind. For those who are new to poker, the book provides a detailed guide to tournament poker, while those who are already taking part in tournaments can learn new techniques to step up their game at the tables.
Raymer has also included a number of topics which are not yet covered in existing poker books such as bounty tournaments, rebuy/reentry events and a lot more.
Working With Premier Poker Book Publisher
D&B wants to be at the forefront of publishing serious poker books and Raymer is the third author and Main Event winner to have worked with the publisher. The other two were Phil Hellmuth, winner of 15 WSOP bracelets and Qui Nguyen, 2016 WSOP winner.
Lance Bradley also released his new book “The Pursuit of Poker Success” last summer with D&B. The publisher also worked with Mike Sexton for his book “Life’s A Gamble”. D&B also published works by poker pros Chris Moorman and Jonathon Little.
Final details of Raymer’s book release have not been disclosed yet but the book is expected to come out before the 2019 WSOP event. Over the summer, D&B will hold book signings with Raymer.
More Experience And Strategy To Share
Asked why he decided to release his first book just now, Raymer said he was planning to write a book since he won in 2004 but was just too` lazy to get down and get it done. When Raymer won in 2004, poker was enjoying a massive boom and it would have been ideal for him to release his book.
Had he released the book between 2004 and 2006, sales would have been overwhelming. But Raymer said he has grown a lot as a player since his 2004 victory. He is better and wiser now and has a lot more to offer compared to the years behind him.
Raymer also played the role of a top poker coach whose webinars and training sessions are frequently in demand. He will always be known as the 2004 WSOP winner but since then he has further established his reputation through his excellent teaching style and ability to decipher complex ideas, conveying messages in clear and simple terms.
The Fossilman
Raymer is known as the “Fossilman” for having a collection of fossils and holographic glasses. The 54-year old from Minot, North Dakota defeated David Williams in the 2004 WSOP Main Event. He took home the first prize $5,000,000. He founded a poker training school called Fossilman Poker Training which started operating in 2011. He conducts 1-2 day training classes at poker rooms in the US and Canada.
Raymer also campaigned extensively for the regulation of poker and lobbied for it to be classified as a game of skill, following the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA).
There is no shortage of poker books and poker tips in the marketplace but given the fact that it is coming out from the 2004 WSOP Main Event champion, there will be a lot of interest in the new poker book.
