With just a few more weeks until the much-awaited 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP), poker players from all around the world are preparing to make a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2018 WSOP is scheduled to take place from May 29 to July 17 and will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
Tournament organizers are expecting a massive turnout as the 2018 WSOP has a record number of 78 gold bracelet events. There is going to be non-stop poker action in Las Vegas for a month and a half which can be quite stressful and exhausting on poker pros.
We put together a list of things that make poker pros can enjoy doing, should they decide to take a break from the poker action.
Get On Top Of The Rio
If you don’t want to get too far away from the poker action, then all you have to do is go to the 51st floor of the Rio and go to the famous Voodoo Rooftop Nightclub and Lounge, where you can enjoy a great steak or try their famous lobster bisque, gulp down an oversized Witch Doctor dry ice cocktail, and dance at the Voodoo Nightclub. The lounge also gives you astounding views of Las Vegas.
If you are one of those players that like to eat when you get stressed out, then you don’t have to leave the Rio. The Carnival World & Seafood buffet is the place to be as you get to try Rio’s two iconic buffets in one place. Cuisines from all over the world are featured at the buffet, with over 300 selections, unlimited draft beer, and a variety of fresh seafood items.
Play Mini Golf
One way to get over the stress of playing poker is to focus your attention on a completely different game. Try and drag a couple of friends away from the felt and get them to try mini golf at the Kiss by Monster Mini Golf which is inside the Rio. The 13,000 sqm Kiss-themed attraction has glow-in-the-dark designs, 18 holes, and unique Kiss props. There are also arcade games, a rock ‘n’ roll gift shop, and a Kiss museum for the Kiss fanatics!
A Relaxing Massage
Sitting at the table and playing poker for days on end can be tough on the body and mind. Pamper yourself by booking an appointment at the Rio Las Vegas Spa & Salon, where you can get a Nu You Detox or their signature massage. This is a great way to relax and prepare yourself for another crack at the 2018 WSOP.
Ink Your Win
Should you have a great run at the WSOP and perhaps win a 6 figure sum or a coveted WSOP bracelet, you can celebrate your win with some ink. Count’s Tattoo Company has set up shop inside the Rio so you can immortalize your Las Vegas experience right then and there.
Ride The High Roller
You can switch from the high roller events at the WSOP to a real life high roller ride in Las Vegas. The High Roller is the world’s biggest observational wheel, standing at a 550 feet, and offers spectacular views of Las Vegas.
Visit the Stratosphere
The Stratosphere Las Vegas is a famous entertainment tower just north of the Strip. It is home to the tallest freestanding observation tower in the US, a number of good restaurants and offers rides like the Big Shot and SkyJump Las Vegas. The Big Shot is one of the most famous rides of the Stratosphere, where you will be propelled 160 feet up in the air at 45 miles per hour.
If you want a break from the crazy activity at the WSOP, then hop on a gondola and take a ride. You can do this at the Venetian which has a recreation of the City of Canals in Venice. If you’re traveling with your partner, it’s also a nice place to bring them to, where you can enjoy a romantic ride along the canals with a singing gondolier.
If you love to party and dance the night away to get rid of all the WSOP stress, then you have a number of great nightclubs to choose from including XS Las Vegas and Tao Las Vegas.
The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden is very close the Rio. This is a 14,000 sqm floral playground that showcases the talents of the Bellagio’s horticulturalists and designers. The design of the garden changes every season and during the 2018 WSOP, you’ll get to enjoy the Japanese Spring theme at the garden. Imagine cherry blossoms, rock formations, waterfalls, bamboo pagodas that will whisk you straight to Japan. This is a great way to de-stress and relax.
