Friday Favorites 02: The Week’s Best Poker Videos
Look, we know we messed up; we missed last week’s edition of Friday Favorites. You probably feel cheated, and no one likes that. But we know you’re just buzzing with anticipation. Call it a soul read, but we’re back with a winning hand… J4os… Too soon, Gman? Congrats on making it to another weekend. Here are Tight Poker’s best poker videos of the week.

It’s less than 24 hours old, but this is, ahem, hands down, the hand of the year–it’s shaken the very foundations of the poker world. The craziest hand we’ve seen since #Postlegate, and against NL crusher and internet fan-favorite Garrett “Gman” Adelstein, no less. We won’t spoil the entirety of the hand, but to call it “strange” would be putting it mildly. “Suspect” might be more accurate. Gman left the game shortly after and has since levelled accusations of foul play, and HLC is now investigating. We’ll have an in-depth look for you to read shortly. What do you think? Can you justify the $100k turn call?

Misplays happen to the best of us (and the worst). But to muck the nuts in a live-streamed cash game after you’ve shoved all in and been snap called is something else altogether. It seemingly plays out perfectly for JWin, as he picks up a draw on the turn and binks the nuts on the river to torch the villain’s straight–it’s what we as poker players dream about. Unfortunately, he forgot to do one small thing: table his hand at the showdown! Let this be a lesson to all to always turn your hand up. Hopefully, the guys in the booth ordered him a stiff drink after seeing that one go down…

In an ongoing effort to highlight women in poker, PokerStars not only added the World Championship Women’s Event to its WCOOP schedule, they livestreamed the final table with commentators. Maria Ho joined James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton for the action. They watched as former Friend of PokerStars Charlotte Van Brabander, playing as sjlot, fought for and won the WCOOP title and more than $15K. The former Counterstrike player worked for PokerStars as a pro player from 2010 through most of 2013.

As much as seeing a straight flush in the wild is something remarkable, what makes this clip pure gold is his reaction. It was far from a celebration; I don’t think even he could believe it. This is beyond meme-worthy.

Ok, so this one isn’t poker, but it is gambling, so my editor let me run with it. Nolimit City slot has recently released a new slots game called The Border, and it’s one of their wildest titles yet. The game’s controversial theme, covering–and this isn’t a joke–the border between the US and Mexico, will have people talking. Still, the game’s brilliant bonuses, plus superb animations and design, have got my attention. And now, someone has managed to trigger the end-screen in the game. While most slots just end if you hit the big win, Nolimit City is different. Check it out.
