The Quick Summary

Sun Poker is a well known poker room which is part of the CryptoLogic Network. There are excellent games available which can be rather loose. The software is functional and the promotions offered are excellent incentives for any player. Money-added tournaments and freerolls are available, as well as nice sign-up and reload bonuses. This poker room was formerly known as Caribbean Sun Poker until British newspaper The Sun purchased the site. Customer support is outstanding but Sun Poker does not allow U.S players.

Popularity: 6 of 10 - Good

This poker site has a solid player base, even with the U.S. player ban. The games available are: Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud and Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, varying between No Limit, Pot Limit and Fixed Limit. Full-table games are available, as well as short-handed and heads-up tables.

Sun Poker has decent traffic at most any hour. The lion's share of action takes place at the Texas Hold’em tables, though each day more and more traffic is found at the Omaha and Seven Card Stud games. The tournaments have good player traffic with the buy-ins ranging from $3 to hundreds of dollars whci should suit most playes. Play is extremely loose at the lower stakes but a bit slow. As of May, 2007, the peak ring-game traffic of this poker site is around 3,000 players.

Security: 9 of 10 - Excellent

Financial security is one of the top priorities of Sun Poker. The CryptoLogic Network is a recognized leader in the industry. This network provides a safe and responsible gaming environment, operating Sun Poker with integrity. The gaming software of the CryptoLogic Network is certified to government regulations in Alderney and Isle of Man.

Player Competition: 6 of 10 - Good

Sun Poker has a shared player base with other poker rooms from the CryptoLogic Network, including William Hill Poker and PlayboyGaming.com. The network has a large percentage of inexperienced players, though the competition is not as weak as it was before the U.S. player ban. The viewed-flop percentage at the loosest full tables at mid-level stakes reaches 65%-70%.

Site Software: 7 of 10 - Good

The functionality of the Sun Poker software is good. The lobby received an extreme makeover recently, now it has a cleaner look and it is not as difficult to navigate as it used to be. A useful note-taking feature is available, but there is no buddy list option. The latest hand played is displayed in a graphic interface. The Log Viewer is an easy to use hand history tool which can be opened from the poker table or from the lobby; the player can search up to his last 9999 sessions (basically all of his/her play).

Multi-table play is supported at up to six tables at the same time; however, the tables are a fixed size and there is no mini-view or other multi-table special function. The graphics are decent, the animations and sounds, such as the dealer’s voice, can be turned off to save resources when multiple tables are open.

Customer Support: 9 of 10 - Excellent

Sun Poker provides professional customer support via telephone, email and chat. The support staff has a friendly attitude when it comes to dealing with player issues. The replies are fast and the quality of the answers is fantastic.

Company Ethics: 8 of 10 - Excellent

The CryptoLogic Network embodies leadership, innovation and trust. The customers reward both Sun Poker and the CryptoLogic Network for the quality of the support provided and for the transparency of every financial transaction. Integrity is extremely important to this network.

Site Promotions: 8 of 10 - Excellent

This poker room offers solid sign-up and reload bonuses each month ranging from a $100 up to a $1,000. They offer a “One Sick Promo”, which gives away 100 World Series of Poker seats to the top 100 players from December 1st, 2006 until May 31st, 2007.

Overall Review: 7.5 of 10 – Very Good

All in all, Sun Poker is an online poker room that has it all: a wide game variety, playable software, solid promotions and fantastic customer support. Sun Poker is recommended for players of all skills.
