The Quick Summary
Gnuf Poker is apart of the Microgaming Network a.k.a Prima. Gnuf Poker is based in Malta and subject to Maltese law. They offer a variety of games and promotions to keep the players coming back for more. Overall, Gnuf is a great site to play on.
Popularity: 7 of 10 - Good
Microgaming is the 8th most popular online poker network and is continuing to grow. Gnuf does not take players from the United States yet still has a big player base. It is a young company making progress in the right direction. The sole reason they get a 7 is for the fact that they do not accept American players.
Security: 7 of 10 - Good
You always want to feel safe playing online and that you are not being cheated in any way. Gnuf Poker does their part in helping you and making sure that you are safe while playing on their site. Gnuf Poker is licensed and regulated in Malta by the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority. All personal information that is sent back and forth from your computer to them is protected by the Thawte SSL Certificates. The shuffling algorithms and the RNG have been thoroughly designed to ensure a completely random and unpredictable shuffle. Gnuf is regularly and independently reviewed by third party auditors.
Updates and upgrades to the software happen almost every month as well, so you can be sure that they are constantly putting in new features and security patches.
All players are automatically protected by Fraud Control Systems and client server encryption. Gnuf Poker also has Collusion Detection Software that tracks all play in real time. Every hand is analyzed and if anything comes up suspicious, the player’s hand history is brought up for examination.
Player Competition: 8 of 10 - Excellent
The players on the site seem to enjoy chasing hands. It is a fairly loose site and fairly easy to find a game at the limit of your choice. It has low limits where the players seem to be learning the game and getting used to playing online. The higher the limit you play, the tighter the game will end up being. That being said, the competition at Gnuf Poker is still quite beatable as this reviewer easily noticed when playing at the site.
Site Software: 7 of 10 - Good
Reviewing the software for Gnuf Poker, we found that there wasn't anything very special. The site is pretty basic and we never experienced any issues with it crashing or freezing. However, the site is not to pleasing to the eye. The graphics are bland and the colors of the card room are a bit unusual. However, we realized that while the site might not be to pleasing to the eye, it did not crash, which is a big plus.
Pros: Mini-view, optional oversized chat box counts raked hands and displays them in the lobby, multi-tabling capabilities, waiting lists and private games.
Cons: Stats do not state how many hands you have played, waiting list does not function when you are already at a table, unattractive interface.
Customer Support: 6 of 10 - Fair
Gnuf customer support is good in regards to response time with an average response of about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Some of the answers were vague but easy to read. As with most poker site, English may not be the first language of many of the support personnel. Just try and make your questions as clear and straight forward as possible.
Company Ethics: 8 of 10 - Good
Working with Gnuf Poker, I have had all my questions and concerns resolved. I believe that a company’s ethics start from the top and carry down. So, you can tell a lot about a company by dealing with their support. I have had no issues with the site and made several deposits and withdrawals with no issues. I think this speaks loud when deciding on what site to play on.
Site Promotions: 8 of 10 - Good
Gnuf has on going promotions, as does the Microgaming Network. You can use your Poker Points to enter tourneys. There is a bad beat Jackpot promotion that can pay out huge. What a site offers in promotions and bonuses should always be a top priority to the player. The bonus is fairly hard to clear at the lower limits.
Other promotions:
Magic Hand.
Overall Review - 7.3 of 10 (Good)
To summarize our experience on Gnuf, we all agreed that it’s a great site to play on. Might not be the most appealing site to the eye, however, with the mini-view, you can multi-table and still see all your tables with no over lapping. This is a big plus if you multi-table whiles trying to clear the bonus faster. Being on the Microgaming Network also gives Gnuf a boost, as there are always plenty of action.
