By Kory Travers | February 10, 2008
Bodog Poker is already putting its players on the road to the 2008 World Series of Poker, guaranteeing 120 seats to the Main Event, with the first seats awarded this month.
Players can buy-in to the “Main Event Semifinal” for $270 or win their way in for less money through various qualifiers. In February, three Semifinals will be held each week, with at least one seat guaranteed to be awarded in each. The number of weekly Semifinals will be increased to four in March and April and then to five in May and June.On top of those opportunities to win a seat, players can also choose the WSOP Main Event as their prize should they win the weekly Player’s Choice tournament.
For those who wish to work their way up through satellites, there are several ways to start. At the lowers rung of the ladder are four different Qualifier options: the $1.50 “Cheap Seats” tournaments, $5.50 buy-in satellites, $1 re-buy satellites, and 100 Bodog Poker Points satellites. All of these award seats to the Quarterfinals.
The Quarterfinals can also be entered directly and, like the Qualifier round, there are four options: $29 buy-in, $20 re-buy, $8 turbo re-buy, and 1,000 Points Qualifier. The Quarterfinal tournaments award seats to the $270 Semifinal, which is the last stop before the WSOP.
The Main Event prize package is valued at $12,000, which is comprised of the $10,000 buy-in plus $2,000 for travel expenses.
