WPTOnline.com to Join Cryptologic

WPTOnline.com, the struggling online poker arm of World Poker Tour Enterprises, Inc. (WPTE), announced Wednesday that it will finally give in and end its lone wolf status, joining the Cryptologic poker network.WPTE and Cryptologic signed a three-year pact to have Cryptologic introduce a WPT-branded software design for the room’s re-launch.The new room is expected to go live in June.
Wagerlogic, the Cryptologic subsidiary which will be handling the poker room, will also provide customer support and eCash services.
“Liquidity is a big deal in this business,” said Steven Lipscomb, President, Founder and CEO of WPTE. “CryptoLogic has proven itself to be an industry leader that delivers a superior product. This deal ensures that starting with day one of our online gaming re-launch there will be a plethora of cash games and tournament offerings available for our customers on a stable and proven platform. We will launch with a look and feel unique to World Poker Tour and will work with WagerLogic to incorporate additional WPT features that will begin to redefine and distinguish our product and customer experience.”
Lipscomb has reason to be excited about the “plethora” of games.WPTOnline has basically been a ghost town since the day it opened.WPTE thought it could use the strength of the World Poker Tour brand to attract flocks of customers, but it was wrong.Moving to an established network is a wise move, even if it is overdue.
