WPT Emulating WSOP

Depending on how you look at it, you might say that the World Poker Tour is “ripping off” the World Series of Poker.Or, you might call it an homage.Either way, the WPT announced Tuesday that it will be awarding special bracelets to its 96 champions from the first six seasons in a special ceremony on April 21.
Tiffany & Co. designed the personalized titanium and diamond bracelets, which appear to consist of five separate sections linked by metal loops.The WPT logo is etched prominently on the central section.
The bracelets will be handed out at WPT Ceremony of Champions at the Bellagio’s “O” Theatre.A private cocktail party will be held for players and VIP’s at 8:30pm, followed by the ceremony at 10:00pm.Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, the WPT’s commentators, will be the Masters of Ceremony.The WPT’s website will air footage from the event.
“There are so many incredible stories to celebrate from the six World Poker Tour seasons and we are thrilled to pay tribute to each of our WPT Champions,” said WPT Founder, President and CEO, Steve Lipscomb. “The championship bracelet has become synonymous with poker as a symbol of achievement and respect, and we are honored to continue the tradition that Benny Binion began over 30 years ago.”
