World Poker Tour Picks Up Spain

In 1994, one of the most popular episodes of Seinfeld aired. In “The Opposite,” George found success in life by going against his instincts, Elaine couldn’t catch a break, and Jerry just rode the middle, calling himself “Even Steven.” If something didn’t go well for him, he wasn’t worried, as it would all even out in the end.
It looks like the World Poker Tour is now in Jerry’s shoes. Shortly after announcing that it was losing the Grand Prix de Paris this year, the WPT has added a stop in Spain, making it “Even Steven” this month. The event is slated for October 2007 at the Casino Barcelona.
The new event came to be when World Poker Tour Enterprises notched a deal with Grup Peralada, the dominant casino operator in Spain. The two companies will not stop at just this poker tournament, though. They are also looking into online poker in the country, a Spanish poker tour, and future WPT visits to Portugal and South America.
