When the Pros Win, You Win
By Rocco Havel | May 28, 2008
Most poker fans have a favorite poker pro or two, or at least a handful that they respect and are happy to see win. But, unlike in professional or college team sports, there is not that sense of pride that comes with seeing “your” horse win.Sure, there is the excitement of a tournament’s final table, but unless you have close personal ties to someone in the competition, you typically don’t really care who emerges triumphant.
But now with Full Tilt Poker’s Fantasy Poker, you can actually have a reason to root for someone: you win if your players win.
The concept behind Fantasy Poker is simple.Choose 15 poker players from Full Tilt’s list of over 300 for each event of the 2008 World Series of Poker (you can have the same 15 carry over to every event so you don’t have to spend hours selecting players) and cheer for them to win as much money as possible.
There’s a slight twist, though. Those 15 players must be split into 3 groups.Group A is for the 5 players who you think have the best chance to win, as you will receive three times their winnings in fantasy dollars.Group B earns you double the winnings, and Group C earns you the same amount as the WSOP player.
Prizes are as follows:
Individual Events
• 1st place (most fantasy dollars for an individual event) – custom Full Tilt Poker jersey
• 2nd through 50th in each event – Full Tilt Poker baseball cap
• Top 2000 – entry into a freeroll tournament
Overall Fantasy Standings
• 1st place (most total fantasy dollars during entire WSOP) – Full Tilt Poker deluxe home game package and a custom Full Tilt Poker jersey
• 2nd through 5th — custom Full Tilt Poker jersey
• Top 100 – entry into 2009 WSOP freeroll
The freerolls for the individual event qualifiers will have $2,000 prize pools, except for the Main Event ($10,000) and the $50,000 HORSE event ($5,000).The top 10 in each of these freerolls plus the top 100 in the overall standings will also qualify for a special freeroll in which the winner will receive a seat in the Main Event of the 2009 WSOP.
The 2008 WSOP starts May 30, so hurry up and get those teams drafted!
