The World Series of Poker Takes Europe
By Kevin Felix | June 6, 2007
Care for a cup of tea with those pocket Aces? London will host the first European-based WSOP, starting on September 6. This is a historical event, as it will be the first time ever that a bracelet is awarded outside of Las Vegas.
The inaugural WSOP Europe will be held at at three of London's most prestigious casinos: London Clubs International's The Sportsman, Fifty, and The Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square.
The 10-day event will consist of three bracelet events:
- A three-day, £2,500 (approximately $4,900 U.S.) HORSE event starting on September 6, at LCI’s newest casino in Leicester Square.
- A two-day, £5,000 (approximately $9,800 U.S.) Pot-Limit Omaha tournament starting September 8.
- And the Main Event: a six-day, £10,000 (approximately $19,600 U.S.) No-Limit Texas Hold’em Championship.
Satellites have already started in various London casinos.
