Take your poker to the next level for free!
By Adam Ulick | October 3, 2007
The acclaimed World Series of Poker Academy is offering the opportunity of a lifetime: a scholarship to attend one of their super-exclusive camps for free! The upcoming camps are very attractive: H.O.R.S.E. in November, a 2-day camp in December and a Ladies Only Event in January 2008.
If you are interested in a chance to join these legendary camps for free, all you have to do is write 100 words or less explaining “why you think you deserve the scholarship and why you think that the WSOP Academy will take your poker game to the next level,” and enter your submission here.
The next Academy event is the H.O.R.S.E. edition in Las Vegas on November 2-4, led by family team Howard Lederer and Annie Duke. This is the Academy’s first H.O.R.S.E. camp, and the instructor line-up is a sort of poker Dream Team, with Howard Lederer teaching Limit Hold’em, Annie Duke on Omaha Eight or better, Greg Raymer for Stud Eight or better, Andy Bloch for Seven Card Stud and Mark Seif in care of teaching Razz. The cost of joining this course is $2199.
If you cannot make this one, don’t despair just yet: as 2-day Limit Hold’em Academy will be held in Atlantic City on December 1-2. Significantly cheaper at $1,699, this one will feature poker pros Greg Raymer, Alex Outhred and “Yukon” Brad Booth, as well as FBI expert Joe Navarro who will teach you how to spot the most hidden of tells.
And for the fair-but-deadly sex, the Academy is hosting a Ladies Only Event at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on January 25-26, 2008. Their timing is perfect, as the first WSOP Main Event bracelet captured by a woman was won by young Annette Obrestad just last month. Brandon Rosen of Post Oak Productions, the company that produces the WSOP Academy, declared: “with our second WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event, our goal is to help even more women master the game by giving them the confidence and skills they need to be a threat at the table.” The keynote speakers will be poker legend Annie Duke, and Joe Navarro will unveil his new seminar on “female specific non verbal behavior.” The cost for this event is $1,699, and seating is limited.
