PokerStars Offers “Extreme” Route To 2009 WCOOP

With the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker slightly more than a month away (the first event is September 5th), PokerStars is making sure that all players have an opportunity to get into the event with what they are calling “Extreme Satellites.”
The “Extreme Satellites” definitely hold up to the moniker in that they offer sometimes 100 seats to a WCOOP tournament of the player’s choice for a buy in as little as $7.50. These seats can be used in tournaments that have buy-ins from $109 for a chance to enter even the WCOOP Main Event with its $5200 buy in. All totaled, there are over $1 million in seats up for grabs during the run of the “Extreme Satellites” promotion.
PokerStars’ first “Extreme Satellite” event is August 4th at 2PM Eastern Time and is one of the tournaments that players can get into for $7.50. For this tournament, there are 100 seats available for players to any of the $109 events. The rest of the schedule, which runs through August 16th, looks like this:

For players who win a seat in the “Extreme Satellite” promotion, they must use them for one of the WCOOP events and cannot sell, trade or cash the seat in.
The 2009 World Championship of Online Poker starts on September 5th and finishes off on September 20th. During the scheduled run, the 2009 WCOOP will feature 45 events in every discipline of poker imaginable, including H.O.R.S.E. and Badugi. With the “Extreme Satellites” running the month before, a player from any bankroll level will have the opportunity to participate in what is recognized as the online equivalent of the World Series of Poker.
