“Poker 2Nite” Premieres on Fox Sports Net
By Neal Farran | November 19, 2009
Fans of the various radio podcasts featuring Ultimate Bet sponsored-pro Joe Sebok and longtime poker media member Scott Huff will be happy to hear that the popular radio show hosts will be taking their talents from the airwaves to your television. Huff and Sebok are the hosts of the new poker news program, “Poker 2Nite”, a weekly half hour-long program airing on Fox Sports Net. The program, sponsored by online poker room UB Poker, will feature Sebok and Huff discussing and debating the latest developments in the poker world
Joining Huff and Sebok in the cast of poker commentators are actress Dana Workman and poker player and absolute spokesperson Lacey Jones. Workman will present a segment called “The Weekly Misdeal”, while Jones will serve as the travelling reporter for the show. Jones will travel the live poker tournament circuit in a segment called “We’ll Do It Live!” in which she will interview players on the circuit and provide update from the major events around the world. The first episode also featured a guest appearance from 11-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.
“Poker2Nite’s mission is to create something that hasn’t existed in the poker community yet: a unique poker TV show that takes fans into our world, seen through our eyes, and in our voice”, explained Senbok in an official press release from UB. “Experience poker the way we do - with excitement, wit and a keen sense of humor. We’re creating our own little club, but all you have to do to gain access is love poker along with us. It’s going to be a wild ride so get on board.”
The show, which is written by another PokerRoad talent, Joe Stapleton, will air Wednesdays at 11PM EST on most Fox Sports affiliates, but schedules may vary based on region. If poker fans miss the first airing of the episode, it is scheduled to rerun Thursdays at 4PM and Fridays at 11AM and 6PM. A statement from UB also revealed plans for the site to host episodes and videos of the show on UB.net, but as of Thursday no videos have been posted to the site. A post by Sebok on his Twitter account (@JoeSebok) confirmed the videos will be posted eventually, but in his words they, “are just working out the kinks as to where it will be housed.”
In celebration of the show’s premiere, the newly branded UB Poker will be hosting daily “Poker 2Nite” Freerolls. The tournaments are currently running every two hours between the hours of 8AM and 2AM and the top 125 finishers in each event advance to the Main Event, which will take place on Sunday at 4PM. Top finishers in the Main Event will win everything from satellite tournament entries and “Poker 2Nite”-related prizes.
