PKR.com Launching Tournament Series
By Joe Zusman | February 27, 2007
The list of online poker tournament series is growing. Ultimate Bet and Poker.com started theirs recently, joining PokerStars and Full Tilt. Now PKR.com has joined the fray with its entry, Springfest.
Starting March 31, Springfest will consist of ten events and over $70,000 in guaranteed prize money. One twist is that only eight of the events are open tournaments. The final two are invite-only and have no entry fee. The first of the two is the “Tournament of Champions,” a single-table tournament for the eight open event winners plus the top two players on the Springfest leaderboard. The winner of this Sit-and-Go will win a seat to the 2007 World Series of Poker. The final tournament is a freeroll open to anyone who played in two events plus the Main Event. Fittingly, PKR.com named it the “Threeroll!”.
Unlike some of the other poker rooms, PKR.com has kept the buy-ins low for Springfest in order to encourage as many players as possible to enter. Buy-ins start at $5.50 for the pot-limit Omaha event to $109 for the no-limit hold’em Main Event.
Multi-table satellites will run each day of Springfest for the tournament to be played on that specific day. The Main Event will have both multi-table and single-table satellites running every day starting March 3.
The winners of each tournament will receive a special silver bracelet.
