In the beginning of this decade the ‘big thing’ was poker online. The popularity grew at a fever that around the world.Today, it is not only about online poker, but televised poker spectacles.Party Poker is a pioneer of televised poker, bringing the audiences a share of fun shows and quality entertainment. Party Poker acquired the first online gaming channel and since then has come up with very creative ways to broadcast poker around the world.
In 2005, Party Poker launched a Premier League Poker that was filmed at Maidstone Studios in Kent, UK. The series featured twelve of the world’s best players battling for a $500,000 pot.Among the twelve players that disputed the huge cash were: eleven-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, Dave ‘The Devilfish’ Ulliott, Tony G, Andy Black, Kiril Gerasimov, Liz Lieu, Ian Fraser, Roland De Wolfe, Vicky Coren, Juha Helppi, Kenna James and Eddy Scharf. Each poker professional played six times in the preliminary stages; then the four leading players went into a final table with the next four on a heads-up match for the final two seats. It resulted in a very fiery and entertaining format, and along the way players could catch a few tips and pointers.
The most recent addition to this new modality of entertainment is Party Poker’s televised event: the Late Night Tournament.Sixteen online players can win the chance to join the original cast of the show that successfully launched in 1999: Late Night Poker. Players can qualify via satellites to play next to Hendon the Mob, Tony G or the Devilfish. You need to go to Party Poker’s lobby and look under the Tournament/Events tab.The players that qualify will have the opportunity to share a $335,000 prize pool in a very unique televised event.
Party poker is giving away an awesome package that includes staying in the luxurious five-star Cardiff Hilton hotel, a $5,000 tournament buy-in, and the chance to enjoy the life style of the rich and famous. The winner of the final table will take home $125,000; the remainder will be split between the other players that make it to the final table.
Once per week, a $300 + $20 Late Night Poker satellite will be run at party Poker to award the prize packages. There are plenty of qualifiers for those who want to try to win their way in on the cheap.
