PartyPoker’s Italian poker room PartyPoker.it continues to establish itself as a site with a penchant for sports as it has recently signed on to sponsor the upcoming Idolo Cup. The event is a charity football match pitting some of the top European players against some big names representing Team Africa in order to raise money to fight against racism. Some of the soccer stars confirmed to participate in the game include Ballon D’or winner Pavel Nedved, Giorgio Chiellini, Didier Drogba and Salif Diao. Other players taking part will be announced closer to the start of the event.

The match is scheduled to take place on December 21st in at the Stadio Olympico in Turin, Italy, but the competition actually begins the day before when a special charity poker tournament featuring the athletes and qualifiers from PartyPoker.it will take place. Two lucky PartyPoker.it users have a chance to win entry into the charity event and play alongside six of the football players taking part in the event. In addition to winning entry into the charity events, each of the two winners also get two tickets to see marquee match the following day as well as hotel and travel accommodations.

Several other PartyPoker.it players will also get to take part in the fun. Three other users will win tickets to the game as well as a chance to fire a couple shots at the goalie during a halftime penalty shootout competition. Five others earn tickets and access to the pitch while another twenty-five players will also be rewarded with tickets to the big game.

In order for people to win one of these packages, they must first be Italian and a user on PartyPoker.it, as players on the global PartyPoker.com site are not eligible to participate. The Italian-only PartyPoker site will play host to a series of qualifying freerolls daily at 8:30PM CET. The top fifty finishers in each freeroll win entry into the final tournament, which is where players will have a crack at the various prize packages. The daily freerolls began on December 2nd and will continue running through December 13th. In order to participate, players will first need to log into PartyPoker.it to obtain the freeroll password for the event that day.

The Idolo Cup online tournament finale is scheduled to take place at 8:30PM CET on Monday December 14th. The top two finishers will receive the grand prize and the rest of the prizes mentioned will be doled out to the top 35 finishers in order of where they finish. The prizes are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash or cash equivalents.

This is not the first time PartyPoker.it has run a poker promotion with an athletic bent. The site recently ran a series of online events featuring its spokesman, F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella called Pole Promotion. That promotion is still running on the site and it is not too late to take part and hit the felt with Fisi and win your share of the €10,000 Race Day Finale prize pool.
