PartyGaming announced this week the appointment of Stephen Box, John Davy, Emilio Gomez and Lord Moonie as their new non-executive board members.

PartyGaming, still recovering from a forced early retirement due to legislation passed by the United States Congress last year, seems optimistic about its newest team despite suffering a huge net loss of 23.5 million in the six months to the end of June 2007.

The Chairman of PartyGaming, Michael Jackson, recently said in a public statement that:

I am delighted to be announcing today's appointments. Stephen Box's financial background and Lord Moonie's experience in the political and technology arenas will be valuable additions to the Board. The Board is also looking forward to working with both John and Emilio, who between them have considerable experience across the leisure and financial services sectors that will be of benefit to PartyGaming and its shareholders.

According to statistics taken from Pokerlistings.com, the four non-executive board members are highly capable.

Moonie, age 60, is a non-executive director of AEA Technology Plc. His experience also includes:

• Studying medicine and becoming a consultant in public health medicine, a senior medical adviser and clinical pharmacologist in the pharmaceutical industry
• Being the Member of Parliament for Kirkcaldy between 1987 and April 2005
• Being responsible for science and technology when he was Parliamentary Under-Secretary for State at the Ministry of Defence from 2000-2003
• Becoming a Life Peer in 2005

Box, age 57, is currently the senior independent director and chair of the audit committee of Michael Page International Plc. His experience includes:

• Qualification as a chartered accountant
• Working for Coopers & Lybrand for more than 25 years, 15 of those years as a corporate finance partner
• Experience as non-executive director of Thames Water Utilities Limited and Wales & West Utilities Limited
• Serving as a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel
• Acting as Finance Director of National Grid, a FTSE 100 company, from August 1997 to October 2002

Davy, 52, is the non-executive chairman of Jongleurs Comedy Limited, a diversified leisure business whose interests include television and corporate hospitality. His other business dealings include:

• Creating and building a series of successful businesses during the last 25 years
• Co-owning and -developing Jongleurs Comedy Clubs before selling the U.K. franchise in August 2000
• Retaining the Jongleurs brand intellectual property rights
• Currently serving as chairman of Mentor Inns LLP

Gomez, 58, is currently chairman of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council. His previous experience also includes:

• Being a chartered certified accountant
• Serving as joint senior partner of Baker Tilly Gibraltar until June 2007
• Being senior partner at KPMG Gibraltar, chairman of the Gibraltar Insurance Association and president of the Gibraltar Society of Chartered and Certified Accountancy Bodies

What the future may hold for PartyGaming is uncertain but at least Chairman Michael Jackson can be sure that his company will be steered by some of the steadiest hands in the business.
