Party Poker Awards 96 Aussie Million Seats in November
By Joe Zusman | December 1, 2009
During the month of November Party Poker awarded players with seats in the 2010 Aussie Millions if they put in a lot of time at the Party tables over the course of the month. The Gladiator promotion doled out freeroll entries and cash prizes worth anywhere from $10 to $3,000.
The grand prize of the Gladiator promotion was a prize package to play in the Aussie Millions event. The package awarded users with an AUD$10,500 seat in the January event. However, the path to winning such a nice prize was not a simple one. Players had to earn 1,000 PartyPoints each day in November in order to qualify for the seat.
PartyPoints are earned based on how many hands a person logs at a given cash game table limit. For example, in order to earn 10 PartyPoints at the $.25/$.50 level, a player would need to play 200 raked hands. At a higher blind level, like the $50/$100 level, players need to only play 7 raked hands in order to earn 10 PartyPoints.
The Gladiator promotion wrapped up on Monday and the numbers have been tallied and a grand total of 96 players met the requisites to win a seat and they will all be headed to the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. The Main Event will run from January 24th to January 30th, but the entire Aussie Millions series runs from the 14th to the 31st. The Crown will play host to 20 different poker tournaments, including AUD$10,000 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha and HORSE events as well as an AUD$100,500 buy-in High Rollers tournament. Last year’s Aussie Millions Main Event was won by Party Poker sponsored pro Stewart Scott, who netted AUD$2,000,000 for defeating the field of 681. For the upcoming event, the Crown is expecting over 800 players and a first place prize of at least AUD$2,000,000 once again.
A Party Poker spokesperson commented on the large number of qualifiers in an official press release of the site. “We added a great incentive for the most dedicated players. If they earned 1,000 points every day for the full 30 days a player secured a seat at next year’s Aussie Millions worth AUD$10,500”, they explained. “Ninety-six fearless warriors proved themselves to be gladiators and are entitled to this fantastic bonus. We are delighted with the popularity of this promotion and would like to congratulate the thousands who were rewarded by it.”
Those who missed out on the Gladiator promotion still have a chance to win their way into the Aussie Millions via Party Poker. The online poker room is offering 25 seats through a series of satellites and is also running a series of tournaments featuring Scott that will award seats as well. Players have until December 13th to qualify for the first series of satellite qualifiers and have until December 6th to take part in the Scott event.
December 6th is also the same day as the latest installment of the Party Poker Monthly Million tournament. The $600 + $40 buy-in event features a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000 and will kick off at 12:45ET. Players can satellite their way into the Monthly Million for as little as $1 or 10 PartyPoints.
