MiniFTOPS XV Begins Today
By Joe Zusman | March 10, 2010
The Mini Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XV kicks off Wednesday at Full Tilt Poker, offering players a chance to play in a large tournament series at affordable prices. Following the exact same schedule as FTOPS XV (except for times), the buy-ins for MiniFTOPS are one-tenth the price of those of its older brother. Of course, the guaranteed prize pools are smaller, too, but there are still more than $6 million guaranteed across all 27 events. The action begins today, March 10th with a $22 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event with a $350,000 guarantee and culminates with the $55 buy-in, $800,000 guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em Main Event on March 21st.
Similar to FTOPS, there are additional prizes available in MiniFTOPS. Everyone who makes a final table will receive a limited edition, black MiniFTOPS jacket emblazoned with the Full Tilt Poker logo. Winners of each tournament will also receive the jacket, as well as special silver MiniFTOPS jersey.
As with FTOPS, there will be a MiniFTOPS leader board which rank players using a points system based on their MiniFTOPS finishes. The overall leader at the end of MiniFTOPS XV will win a buy-in for every FTOPS XVI event, except for the big two-day tournament. The combined buy-ins are expected to be worth around $8,500.
Also like FTOPS, there are several MiniFTOPS Challenges for all players. They are exactly the same as the ones from FTOPS (with freeroll prizes that have one-tenth the prize pool) except for the Zero to Hero Challenge and Million Dollar Challenge, which have been eliminated. Remember, the Challenges are “opt-in” promotions, which means that players must open the Cashier in the Full Tilt software, click on My Promotions, and navigate to the MiniFTOPS Challenge page in order to participate.
1) Satellite Seat Challenge – satellite into two MiniFTOPS XV events and win an entry into a special $1,000 MiniFTOPS Sat Challenge Freeroll. Satellite into three events and win an entry into two of these freerolls. Four winning satellites earn three freeroll entries, and five get an entry into all four.
2) Hold’em Challenge – there are five tasks to complete in a single No-Limit Hold’em MiniFTOPS event. $1,000 Hold’em Challenge Freeroll entries are available for those who accomplish at least three of the tasks. Tasks include things such as winning 30 hands without a showdown or stealing the same player’s blinds at least three times.
3) Survivor Challenge – Up to four freeroll entries will be awarded to those who make it to level 10 in at least two events.
4) Double-Up Challenge – Players can earn as many as four $1,000 freeroll entries for growing their chip stack to at least double its starting size in at least two events.
