Ladbrokess Irish Poker Festival to be filmed
By Kevin Felix | August 27, 2008
The popular €250,000 guaranteed Irish Poker Festival, which will be played in Killarney, Ireland on October 2-5, will be filmed and broadcast on Irish TV as a documentary. The Irish Poker Festival documentary will be initially broadcast on Irish TV station TG4 and later distributed to networks around the world. A web stream version will also be available on Ladbrokespoker.com for those who cannot access it from home
Over 600 European poker pros are expected to buy into the Irish Poker Festival, which will feature a €550 buy-in Main Event, as well as a €300 No Limit Hold’em Freezeout event on Saturday October 4, a €170 No Limit Freezeout tournament on Sunday October 5 and a Main Event satellite.
Ladbrokes sponsored pro Roy ‘The Boy’ Brindley made a statement regarding the filming of the Poker Festival, "Terrestrial television coverage for this event is excellent news, it is just one more reason hoards of poker players will descend on one of Ireland’s most beautiful regions in October. This will be a blend of fun and, with huge money plus European ranking points on offer, some very serious poker playing.” Brindley also highlighted another reason why the Poker Festival is so attractive for professional players: “With ranking points on offer you can expect those in the reckoning for the ‘Player of the Year’ title will hotfoot it over from London.”
Ladbrokes is offering a wide array of qualifiers and satellites for those who do not want to fork out the €550, and buy-ins start as low as $5. Prize packages include the Main Event buy-in and 2 nights accommodation at the Gleneagle Hotel.
