Gunmen Break Up Poker Game, Man Shot
By Kevin Felix | March 7, 2008
Charles Lineberry wrote in one of his online poker player profiles that he wished poker would be legalized in Texas. If it had been, maybe he would have been playing last Tuesday morning at a public card room with security, rather than a friend’s house.
During the friendly, $300 buy-in game, three masked gunmen burst into the room after firing shots outside. They forced everybody up against a wall and took approximately $3,000 from the game’s cash box as well as the players’ wallets. At some point, Lineberry was shot twice in the chest.
Lineberry, 49, was last known to be in critical condition at University Hospital. The suspects had not been apprehended.
