Annie Duke to appear on “The Apprentice”

Home >Poker News >2008 >October >Annie Duke to appear on “The Apprentice”

Date: October 08, 2008
By: Jeremy Olson

This is because Duke is slated to appear on the eighth season of the hit reality TV series “The Apprentice,” which sees multiple people competing for a chance to work for Donald Trump. Also tabbed “The Celebrity Apprentice 2,” the show began taping on September 21st and will air in January of 2009.

Other celebrities that will be appear on the show with Annie Duke this season include current and former stars like Dennis Rodman, Joan Rivers, Khloe Kardashian, Brian McKnight, and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. Donald Trump will once again return to be the host of the show too.

The typical format of The Apprentice features a number of contestants competing against each other in order to win a single managerial position of one of Trump’s businesses. The contract given out for the job is worth $250,000 and the life of the position normally lasts for one year. The Celebrity Apprentice is different though in that it has the stars compete against each other for money that will go to their favorite charity – no job is given out in this version of the show.

Season 7 of the Apprentice marked the first time that celebrities competed against each other for the final spot. Stephen Baldwin, Lennox Lewis, Carol Alt, Gene Simmons, Tito Ortiz and Trace Adkins where a just a few of the people who appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice. Author and TV personality Piers Morgan won the seventh season of the Apprentice and got to donate $250,000 to his charity.

Duke will be hoping to win the second season and should fit right in with her peers on the Celebrity Apprentice 2 since she has appeared on other TV shows in the past. “The Colbert Report”, “Ultimate Blackjack Tour”, “Poker After Dark”, “1 vs. 100”, and “Deal or No Deal” are just a few of the television programs that she has been on.

The decision to appear on The Celebrity Apprentice 2 was a much more difficult one for Duke though, because she had to skip the Aruba Poker Classic where she was expected to play in order to make the tapings of the show. However, she made the sacrifice and is a confirmed member of the hit TV series.

In her poker career, Annie has won over $3,600,000 in live tournament winnings. In the 2004 WSOP, she earned a gold bracelet and $137,860 for winning a $2,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Split event. Duke has also made numerous other big cashes throughout her poker playing career. Her brother, Howard Lederer, is a very successful professional poker too.

People can expect to see Duke on Thursdays at 10:00 pm (ET) when The Celebrity Apprentice 2 begins airing in January. This season of the show will be taking the old time slot of the hit NBC show “ER” since it is ending its final season.
