Absolute Poker, Ultimate Bet Jettison Pros
By August Darnell | April 12, 2007
Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, both owned by Absolute Entertainment since November, have both made changes to their marketing strategy which have resulted in them releasing some of their resident professional players from their spokesperson duties.
Out of fear of possible trouble from the U.S. Department of Justice, both against the sites and their professional poker representatives, the two online poker rooms have decided to stop using pros to market to the U.S. As a result, Absolute has gotten rid of both Mark Seif and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, while UltimateBet has done the same with Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari.
As for the rest of Team UltimateBet, Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth will continue to promote the site, but only to non-U.S. markets. There has been no word on Freddy Deeb or Jim “KrazyKanuck” Worth, but one could presume that Worth would at least be retained to market to the Canadian market.
