Tennis Legend Joins PokerStars

In an unorthodox move, PokerStars.com recently announced the addition of a new member of its team of players.  This time, it was not a professional poker player, but rather, a professional tennis player, Hall of Famer Boris Becker.

Becker told the PokerStars blog that he began learning how to play on the pro tennis tour in between matches and that it helped his concentration on the court.  Now retired from the game (although he does occasionally play on the senior tour), he is looking to poker as another means to fuel his competitive drive.

Becker won almost 77 percent of his career singles matches, going 713-214 from 1984 to 1999.  He won 49 tournaments, six of which were Grand Slam events.  He reached number one in the world rankings in 1991 after defeating rival Ivan Lendl in the Australian Open, his first of two Aussie titles.
