PokerStars Adds Two Sunday Tournaments

Sunday was already the biggest tournament day at the biggest tournament poker site, but it just got bigger.  PokerStars.com recently added two multi-table tournaments to its Sunday lineup, offering something for both the low roller and the ultra-high roller.

Those with smaller bankrolls but high aspirations might be well advised to try out the Sunday Hundred Grand, as long as they have the time.  As one may guess, this tournament has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The great part about it, though, is that it only costs $11 to enter (and it’s a freezeout, not a re-buy).  Be sure to block off your afternoon and evening if you plan on playing – the Hundred Grand starts at 3:30pm EDT and will accept up to 15,000 entrants.  It hit capacity in its first running on July 8.  The top prize was $18,900.

At the other end of the spectrum, the High Stakes Showdown is a small capacity tournament with an astronomical buy-in.  This heads-up tournament will only support sixteen players, but the prize pool is $160,000, as it costs $10,000 (plus a $300 fee) to play.  The top four semi-finalists make the money and the winner receives $72,000.  The tournament will not run unless all sixteen seats are filled.
